cute. funny and in honor of a stage my son went through when ‘mr spoon’ was his best friend.
the magical milky ways super galatic zoo!
the boy just adores this dual purposed coloring/story book. well in line with his space obsession..
there was an old lady...
super cool, super sleek design bringing this rather macabre fable into the 21st century.
an awesome book!...(need i say more?)
super cool design and oh so creative illustration. positive message. ultra fun to read. visual feast for any age…especially for the wide and wondering eyes of 2yo.

MOON MAN
about a man, who lives on the moon, coveting life on earth. then when he gets to earth, hes treated like an outcast. sad story but oddly just plain old reality. E.T.esque in concept (which btw was the first movie i ever saw as a 5yo kid and cried like well, a little girl). this is actually a fairly old tale written by a very timeless author tomi ungerer, that has been given a 21st century makeover...

iggy peck architect
a title that immediately grabs my attention is usually a good sign. i ordered this book without reading through it first, but here lies another winner. my son LOVES it.
combine some savvy rhymed verse with an extended vocabulary and add brilliant illustration/design will deliver a cute story about a talented boy who has an obsessive appetite for designing architecture.
surprisingly, extremely...

oop looks like you wont need to buy the book! haha
the red balloon
another oldie, based on a classic 50’s film using photo stills, its fairytale worthy and quietly breathtaking. i love this book. my son only loves it because it stars a balloon.
we're going on a bear hunt
in no way do i advocate hunting bears, but this little gem is timeless. emphasised singing HIGHLY reccommended.

…well youd need to be a multi-billion dollar commercial enterprise to be able to develop the kids e-book concept. lucky for disney they have spare change. super cool. super commercial. would love the indie sector to respond with something thatll blow disney out of the proverbial pond…i might be waiting a while. pesky hippies ☺

SPOT WHAT!
i like exclamation marks at the end of a book title. it usually incites urgent fun. the collage styled EXTREME eyeball festival, spot what series is a winner with all ages…why? its a lot more fun than wondering where the hell wally is!

not a box!
a book fashioned from what may have been a recycled cardboard box, this very simple unassuming book is a conversation with a sketched rabbit and its box. imagination more powerful than knowledge? well..a bit of both doesnt hurt ☺

you know when you come up with an amazing idea or concept and its a raging light bulb moment that just wont settle. then you think, this could work, this really could work. im going to create this fantastical empire and die filthy rich. then you google to see if anyone else has done something similar…then your dreams are flattened like that house swept up in the tornado in the wizard of oz...

pop-up art
im a sucker for pop-up books. to me they are the epitome of paper engineering. some are better quality than others but generally, as far as sedentary books are concerned, hardcorecover entertainment.
top of the list is “journey to the moon” by lucio & meera santoro. i have to hide this book otherwise my dear darling child will want to take it everywhere like a security blanket....

this has to be a staple in our house. to the tune of ‘this old man’ we are taken on a jazztastic journey through musical history. i bought this book & started reading it to my son when he was about 6mths old and even now at 2.8 he still loves loves LOVES this book. singing out loud a must. it may take some practice wrapping your mouth around the phrasing but even then youll be...

pearl barley and charlie parsley
apart from having a title that playfully rolls off the tongue, i wasnt sure if my son would take to this book. alas, it seems to bring him joy especially with an opening/ending tagline “really great friends” which he anticipates and gets quite upset if i read that line before he says it. this is the bert & ernie relationship that morally resonates well with any age i think. each...

quite possibly the best childrens author of this...
its only appropriate to start with our favorite FAVORITE writer, emily gravett. her books are just so brilliant and my son will never tire of reading them consecutively. her style is so refreshing. “monkey and me” was our first. then we were hooked. the clever yet subtle humor induces giggles galore. simple, clear, perfectly sized/spaced text that flows for easy comprehension. the...

books books glorious books
ive never been a very consistent blogger, but to create something thematic, something that im emphatically passionate about seems to make sense.
since my 2yo son was born, we have built up a very healthy collection of some wonderful childrens books. now it appears that he has a healthy obsession too, though reading 10+ books at bedtime is sometimes rather tiring, one can not underestimate the...
